Entrepreneur, model, magazine publisher, anti-aging skincare impresario and now radio host, Judith Mancini’s multi-faceted career has revolved around one central theme: the concept of helping others live life better and to the fullest possible.
Judith is a native of Los Angeles, California where she and her brother were raised by grandparents after their mother contracted polio and their father abandoned them when Judith was just five years old. Their grandfather was co-founder of one of the first re-habilitation centers for alcohol abuse and was generous with his support and love but with a twist of fate her grandparents both died while she was in high school. Realizing she would have to support herself as well as pay for college tuition Judith began working at the telephone company (boring, boring) and then became a model. Still, finding this did not “pay the bills” she gave up her college education after only one year. Putting her modeling on hold she became a United Airlines Stewardess (really there were no “flight attendants” in those days). She found independence and adventure in those glamorous days of flying everything from the queen of the skies DC-6 to the “big” DC-8-61(that was the “stretch” version). In those days a girl could get to know her passengers, serving “business men only” flights where the men indulged in cocktails, dinner and cigars! Still it was lots of fun traveling the world and spending time in all the beautiful cities with her fellow adventure-seeking stewardesses.
While based in Chicago, Judith met a swinging, single, Second Officer for United Airlines. Ten short months later they were married and Judith found herself forced to quit the airline because of marriage. Those were the days when an airline could enforce “single” status for their stewardesses.
The most wonderful blessing of the marriage came with the birth of son Matthew and daughter Meagan, respectively. But with another twist of fate, her high-flying marriage came to a screeching halt within a few years. Finding herself with two children to raise she returned to modeling and took a second job as a tour guide in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Judith rapidly advanced to the position of divisional vice-president of a national tour company and finally was using her brain and discovered she loved the world of business.
Along the way she met and married the owner of a famous Los Angeles pub. Together the couple bought a small, struggling magazine in the dietary supplement and beauty industry which was inching along with a circulation of 20, 000. Bringing the publication, Let’s Live, directly under her wing, she turned the publication around quadrupling the advertising sales and dramatically increasing readership to an audited circulation of 1.7 million within 18 months. She also created and introduced several other magazines including Be Healthy! and Great Health. In 1995 Judith sold the publishing company and also ended her tumultuous marriage to the pub owner whom was more interested in the beverages sold in his pub than the family life Judith sought.
Happily some time later Judith met and married the love of her life, Lou, and they continue to live and love in Southern California. Her children are now grown and have begun their own life adventures.
With her life full of family, friends and traveling, there was still more to come. In May of 2013 Judith founded and launched a line of anti-aging skincare products. And in September of 2013 she is the host of “Dishing the Details” where she and experts in the fields of love, sex, health, investing, real estate and all topics spicy and informative will share their secrets with you.
